Whole Point Space™ derives from three solo adaptations of "No Time To Fly," written and choreographed by Deborah Hay. Each solo is an independent expression of the written score. In conjunction with The Forsythe Company’s Motion Bank research project, the three solos were recorded 21 times over 2 years in Frankfurt, Germany.
Video artist Rachel Strickland and inventor Eric Gould Bear reframed the piece with Hay as a 13 minute 33 second polylinear trio for human-scale installation at the Blanton Museum, Austin, Texas in 2014.
Whole Point Space plays in MONKEYmedia’s Walk-In Theater™ for iOS. Developed by Strickland, Bear and sound designer Jim McKee, Walk-In Theater experiments with peripatetic perspective, engaging participants’ proprioceptors and spatial memory to orient themselves as they navigate among multiple video streams in a 3D sound field.
